All Old English breeds have a very upright stance, giving them the appearance of being very confident - the roosters strut as if with a "cocky" attitude. Originally from England, Old English were most often used for cock fighting until the sport was banned in 1849. Popular choice for hobby and/or exhibition.
Description at 1 day old:
Rich brown coloring on top of head and down back with two lighter stripes down back. Tawny brown coloring on wings and face, fading to yellow on belly.
Description at maturity:
Males: Beautiful splashes of bright oranges and red plumage with deep blacks and green sheens.
Females: Copper plumage on neck feathers, tawny brown feathering on wings and body.
