With specific cross-breeding of Mallards, Rouens, and Runners, this Khaki Campbell duck was developed to be a very high egg producer. They can average up to 320 eggs per year given the proper circumstances. Despite misconceptions of this breed being flighty or skittish, they are mostly a calm and gentle breed and are great for families to raise. The males are mostly khaki colored with a darker head, while the females are all over khaki colored.

My children are allergic to chicken eggs, so we raise these for eggs. We got our first batch of Khakis 6 years ago and another 3 years ago. We still have some from both batches, laying like gangbusters. They even lay through the long cold MI winter. I raised laying hens before the ducks, and I think the ducks actually lay more consistently than the chickens did! They are also great foragers and very vigorous and healthy, we didn’t lose a single duckling in our orders.
